abused or neglected children in Alabama foster care

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of the River Region — Speaking Up for Abused and Neglected Children

More than 14,000 of Alabama’s most vulnerable children are attending court hearings, adjusting to new homes and navigating the child welfare system every day. CASA volunteers are trained to advocate for the best interests of these children.

Our goal is to provide a dedicated CASA volunteer for every abused and neglected child to give them a voice and help them thrive in a safe and loving home. With your support, Together We Will achieve that goal.

With much sadness, we share the passing of our wonderful Executive Director of the Alabama CASA Network, Jimmy Hill. Jimmy was the most wonderful, caring leader that will be deeply missed. In MemoriamIt is with great sadness that the Board and Staff of the Alabama Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Network announce the passing of its State Executive Director, Jimmy Hill on Monday, March 25, 2024. Mr. Hill joined CASA in June 2020 and since that time demonstrated excellence in leadership for this organization. He was greatly committed to the advocacy of CASA and its values. His care and compassion for those who are often voiceless, Alabama’s abused and neglected children, made him beloved by all who worked with him around the state. During his fourteen plus year career in charity work, Mr. Hill won the respect of many community and state leaders as he fought to raise awareness of the needs for a better life and future for many Alabamians, of all ages. Jimmy’s faith and love for his family and friends carried him through his recent illness. Currently CASA has not received details concerning funeral arrangements. This information will be shared as it becomes available. In the meantime, we ask that everyone hold Jimmy’s family and friends close in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. We are all struggling to grieve this tremendous loss to CASA, as well. “Together We Will” holds new meaning today as we focus on the work of a beloved leader. Together we will walk through this time of grief and sorrow and celebrate the life of Jimmy Hill, a person who now resides in the Light of the World. Shine on, Jimmy. Shine on.#TogetherWeWill ...
